Do you wonder where writers get their stories? Do you remember the story of Paddington Bear, written by Michael Bond in 1958? Paddington Bear was a refugee, left alone in a train station. The story was inspired by Bond witnessing the Kindertransport of children arriving in England as refugees from Germany during WW II as he traveled around the country during his time in the service. Since then, Paddington has become a comfort to children all over the world.
You can see him yourself at Paddington station, London, Platform One.
